Warner Bros. Announce Upcoming Superhero Movies, Friends on Netflix
Warner Bros. have announced details for a whole bunch of upcoming superhero movies, amongst other releases. During a shareholder call this morning, studio boss Kevin Tsujihara announced plans to release 10 D.C. Comics movies between 2016 and 2020. The list included som big names, including Wonder Woman and The Justice League, both in 2017 and Aquaman in 2018.
Also on the way are the previously announced “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’’ (2016), “Suicide Squad’’ (2016), “The Flash’’ (2018), and a new “Green Lantern’’ in 2020. Zack Snyder is slated to direct the The Justice League films, of which there will be two, and the movie will star Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, and Amy Adams. Dwayne “The Rock’’ Johnson will star in “Shazam’’, to be released in 2019.
If you can handle more excitement, Warner Bros. also announced plans to release three new lego films in the next in the next four years. “The Lego Batman Movie’’ will be released in 2017 followed by a sequel to the hugely successful “The Lego Movie’’ in 2018, aptly named “The Lego Movie 2.’’
Harry Potter is making a comeback too, sort of. Three spin-off movies from J.K. Rowling’s wizarding world will be released before 2020, but alas, they don’t feature Harry and are set about 100 years before his time in New York City. The trilogy will revolve around fictional author, Newt Scamander and his books on magical creatures.
The final piece of news to come out of the briefing is that — hold your breath — every episode of “Friends’’ will be streaming on Netflix starting on the first day of 2015. All 236 episodes will be available to stream online (legally) for the first time ever.
