Somerville Needs Your Help to Name a Street
Ever wanted to name a street but thought such dreams were impossible?
Well, your wish has been granted: Somerville is looking for suggestions to name a new street in the Assembly Square development!
The street, which runs along the T tracks and the new Assembly Square MBTA station (prime street name real estate, probably), is currently called Greater River Road. See those question marks? That’s where you come in!
“We have a history of engaging our residents on certain issues and we thought this would be a fun one,’’ Somerville spokesperson Jackie Rossetti told Boston.com. “We’re eager to see what they come up with.’’
Due date for submissions is October 22, and names with a Somerville connection are preferred. The top two choices will go to Mayor Joseph Curtatone to choose.
To get your creative juices flowing, we came up with a few suggestions:
• Wish We Were Cambridge Place
• Curtatone’s Legacy Avenue
• Ikea Way
• Stop Calling Us Slummerville Drive
• Hipster Terrace
• Gentrified Lane
• Medford Bypass
• Casino View Road
