Fishing Boat Runs Aground In Chatham
A 40-foot fishing boat, “Never Enough,’’ ran aground in Chatham Harbor on Wednesday morning, a US Coast Guard spokesperson told Boston.com.
According to Ocean Mate First Class Derek Seehagen of the Chatham Coast Guard Station, there was one person on board who was rescued and uninjured.
“At 7:30 a.m. a good Samaritan on another commercial fishing boat saw a boat that looked to be in trouble,’’ Seehagen said, adding that the boat experienced on-board complications.
Seehagen said pulling the boat and the person on board into safe water was a joint effort by the Coast Guard, a Chatham harbormaster, a Harwich harbormaster, and TowBoatUS.
The Coast Guard towed the boat out of the surf zone and into calmer water to assess damage and recovery efforts, Seehagen said.
It is still undetermined whether the boat is salvageable.
