Mayor Walsh Rejects Happy Hour, Quotes The Dude in ‘Twittah’ Chat
Boston Mayor Marty Walsh dropped a quote from “The Big Lebowski’’ right after rejecting a call to bring back happy hour during a Twitter Q&A with area college students on Friday afternoon.

The “Twittah’’ chat started out with Walsh rejecting the idea of bringing happy hour to the city.

Harsh. The same question came up during in a Twitter Q&A in May, when Walsh said he wasn’t in favor of happy hour coming to Boston.
The mayor followed his happy hour rejection with a quote from “The Big Lebowski,’’ the Coen brothers movie about a guy just trying to drink White Russians and bowl in peace.

Jeff “The Dude’’ Lebowski is seen drinking White Russians on nine separate occasions over the course of the almost two-hour movie. Imagine how much The Dude could save with happy hour prices.
But hey, like Walsh said: “The Dude abides.’’ And so will thirsty Boston residents.
