Police Officer Assaulted Near Lechmere T Station
A Cambridge police officer was assaulted near the Lechmere T Station just before 2 p.m., according to The Boston Globe. Two officers attempted to arrest two people during an alleged drug deal on Water St.
During the encounter, one of the parties assaulted the officer in the knee with a stick, according to Cambridge police spokesman Jeremy Warnick. The other officer then sprayed mace at the attacker, according to police, but the wind blew the mace into the assaulted officer’s face.
The suspect is now in custody.
