West Nile Virus Alert Level Raised to ‘Moderate’ in Boston
A mosquito pool in Hyde Park tested positive for West Nile Virus, the third such positive test in Boston in the past three weeks. As a response, health officials raised the alert level for West Nile Virus to “moderate.’’
The latest positive West Nile test comes after infected findings in Roslindale and Jamaica Plain.
As we’ve noted before, West Nile has appeared in Boston every summer since 2000. There have been no recorded human cases of mosquito-borne illnesses – West Nile included – in Boston this year, Boston Public Health Commission notes. There were at least six recorded cases of West Nile last year.
