Boston Globe: Officer’s Gun Fires While Cop Struggles with Suspect
A Boston Police officer’s gun went off while he struggled with a man suspected of selling drugs early Thursday morning. According to police, the gun went off as the suspect reached for the firearm.
The Boston Globe reports:
As the men struggled, Gardner allegedly reached for the officer’s handgun and it discharged, but no one was hit by the bullet, [Boston Police officer and spokesman James] Kenneally said.
The officer subdued and arrested Gardner, according to Kenneally. A search of the area where the men struggled allegedly revealed a plastic bag containing six individually wrapped cocaine rocks, police said, and Gardner was allegedly found to be carrying close to $3,000 in cash.
The suspect, Reginald Gardner, 24, is being held on $50,000 bail. Click here to read the full Boston Globe story.
