Rhode Island Police Arrest a Dozen for Failure to Pay Child Support

Rhode Island State Police and The Rhode Island Division of Sheriffs arrested 13 individuals after an early morning warrant sweep throughout the state Wednesday, July 2.

According to a press release from the Rhode Island State government, the sweep resulted in the arrest of 12 individuals due to “body attachments issued by the Rhode Island Family Court for failing to appear for court proceedings and failure to pay child support.’’

The individuals arrested owed a total of about $232, 397 in child support payments. One individual owed close to $90,000.

Another person was arrested for a warrant issued by the Sixth Division District Court.

The press release reports that the subjects have been processed at State Police Headquarters and were arraigned at 2 p.m. today.
