Power Outage Briefly Gives Brookline a Sweaty Night

Brookline experienced a power outage Tuesday night, with more than 3,500 NSTAR customers without power before the company got the electricity restored.

The problem was underground on Beacon Street, somewhere between Hawes Street and Summit Avenue, according to NSTAR customer relations representative Bill Zamparelli.

“We have crews on both ends working their way toward the middle, trying to find the problem,’’ he said.

The outage lasted nearly two hours before restoring service to all but a handful of people just before 11 p.m..

Brookline residents, meanwhile, took to social media to document the steamy, dark interlude.
