Dozens of Headstones Knocked Over in Woburn Cemetery
Nearly two-dozen headstones were knocked over at Woburn’s Woodbrook Cemetery, in what police believe was an act of “mischief.’’
According to Woburn Police Lieutenant David Murray, the incident occurred some time between when the cemetery closed Friday night and when the workers arrive at 6:45 a.m. Saturday morning.
One of the workers discovered the overturned headstones.
The incident is likely a case of “mischief,’’ Murray said, and is still under investigation.
The Boston Globe reports that “there was no apparent targeting of the affected headstones,’’ and that some of them “would have taken two people to topple over.’’
No one at the cemetery, located on Salem Street, could be reached for comment.
“We’re asking for anybody’s help who might have seen something,’’ Murray said.
