10 Things You Didn’t Know About Mass. Gov. Candidate Steve Grossman
Steve Grossman is a Democrat and a candidate for governor of Massachusetts. Currently the Treasurer and Receiver-General of Massachusetts, Grossman currently lives in Newton with his wife, with whom he has three grown sons.
Here are some facts that you won’t see on Grossman’s campaign website:
1. The political leader he admires most is Franklin D. Roosevelt.
2. The last live music show he saw was the Dropkick Murphys at the House of Blues.
3. If he entered a talent show, he would show off his “encyclopedic knowledge of homemade ice cream shops throughout Massachusetts.’’ At the Democratic gubernatorial debate held at The Globe headquarters Tuesday, Grossman said he likes ice cream with “the more chocolate, the better.’’ Rum raisin was another one of his favorite flavors.
4. If he could give his 20-year-old self any advice, it would be this: “Work hard, have fun, and don’t panic.’’
5. His first car was a Chevy Impala.
6. His beer of choice is Allagash White. If he’s drinking something stronger, he’ll take a Bombay Sapphire martini with four olives.
7. His first job was sweeping floors in the warehouse of the Massachusetts Envelope Company (founded by his grandfather).
8. His favorite local restaurant is Lumiere in West Newton.
9. Grossman says his spirit animal would be a bear, because they “have stamina, are strategic thinkers, and are leaders.’’ (Rawr.)
10. In the movie about his life, he’d like Tom Hanks to play him.
