Revere Woman Arrested on Seventh Drunken Driving Charge

A Revere woman was arrested on her seventh drunken driving charge after Arlington Police Chief Fred Ryan said he saw her drive the wrong way down a busy Arlington street. Brenda Drinkwater, 60, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence as a seventh offense, operating a motor vehicle negligently as to endanger, drinking from an open container while driving and failure to keep to the right.

According to a statement released by the Arlington Police Department, Ryan was driving in an unmarked police car when he saw a sedan driving the wrong way down Summer Street in Arlington. Summer Street is Route 2A in Arlington.

When Ryan asked Drinkwater to get out of her car, she nearly fell over and then failed “a number’’ of field sobriety tests, according to the statement.
