Richard Brothers Run Same Race One Year Apart
Henry Richard, the 12-year-old brother of Boston Marathon bombing victim Martin Richard, took a turn with the baton during yesterday’s Boston Youth Relay Challenge. Henry crossed the finish line in first place. The race, held each year since 1997, is the culmination of a training program that starts in March.
Martin Richard ran in the 2013 race.
Henry also participated in the Marathon Tribute run, coming in fourth place, according to the Boston Globe. Mayor Marty Walsh held the finish line tape for Henry.
Martin was killed when a bomb exploded near the marathon finish line in 2013. His younger sister Jane lost a leg, and his parents were badly injured in the blast.
