Did a group of local ministers attempt a shakedown?
The Boston Globe’s Adrian Walker has an odd story about a group of Boston ministers maybe or maybe not shaking down the MBTA’s new commuter rail operator, Keolis North America. The group gave a representative from the company an invoice for $105,000.
The trouble started after Keolis spokesperson Leslie Aun met with Rev. Eugene Rivers, a minister and co-founder of the Boston TenPoint Coalition. Rivers is also part of the DRM Advisory Group, formed by several Boston ministers.
The meeting was purportedly to discuss issues related to diversity in commuter rail hiring. According to Walker, Rivers handed Aun a sealed envelope.

Keolis is set to take over the MBTA’s commuter rail operations on July 1. The French company made a 12-year, $4.26 billion bid for the contract.
