Remy and his wife, Phoebe, were seeking custody of the child, as were the maternal grandparents, Brian and Patricia Martel.
The Remys’ son, Jared, is awaiting trial for the murder of the Martels’ daughter, Jennifer Martel, Arianna’s mother.
Arianna Remy has been in the custody of the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families, according to the Boston Globe.
Jared Remy was the subject of an extensive March 24 Globe article which detailed his lengthy record of abuse and the leniency he received through the Massachusetts criminal justice system.
