Truck hits bicyclist in Back Bay
A truck hit a bicyclist in the Back Bay this afternoon, police said.
Boston police responded to the crash scene, which was near Beacon Street and Massachusetts Avenue, at 1:42 p.m., said police spokesman David Estrada.
As a white van was driving down Beacon Street towards Massachusetts Avenue, a black car reportedly ran a red light and struck the van, which then struck a man riding a bike, police said.
Boston EMS spokesman Nick Martin said the unidentified victim suffered injuries that were not life-threatening. The 25-year-old victim was conscious and alert after the accident, but complained of shoulder pain, Estrada said.
The driver of the black car claims that the car’s brakes were not working, police said.
EMS transported the victim to Brigham and Women’s Hospital for treatment, said Martin.
