Power outage reported on MIT campus
A power failure Friday at MIT affected all buildings served by the school’s cogeneration plant, campus police said in a posting on Twitter. The cogeneration project provides electricity, steam heat, and chilled water to more than 100 buildings, according to the MIT website. Officials found that a power failure in a manhole near Green Hall, which is located at the corner of Danforth Street and Amherst Alley, had caused the campuswide outage. At 4:30 p.m., a spokeswoman said power had been completely restored.
