Power outage reported on MIT campus
A lot of bright students were in the dark after a power failure at MIT this afternoon.
Campus police said in a tweet that a campus-wide power outage had impacted all buildings fed by the MIT cogeneration plant.
The cogeneration project provides electricity, steam heat, and chilled water to more than 100 MIT buildings, according to the university website.
Officials found that a power failure in a manhole near Green Hall, which is located at the corner of Danforth Street and Amherst Alley had caused the outage. As of 4:30 p.m., a spokeswoman said power had been completely restored and the problem that caused the outage was fixed.
