A small earthquake shook the earth in Southern Maine Thursday night, according to a report from the US Geological Survey.
The 2.0-magnitude quake was recorded 9 miles northwest of Rumford, or 50 miles north-northwest of Augusta, at about 11:15 p.m., according to the report.
Rumford police and fire officials said no calls came in about the quake.
“This is the first I’ve heard of it,’’ said a Rumford police dispatcher.
