Conn. man dies after hitting state highway truck
Connecticut State Police say a 22-year-old Litchfield man has died after his sport utility vehicle struck a parked state Department of Transportation truck on a snowy roadway in Torrington. Police said Christopher Watts lost control of the Jeep Liberty Friday morning on Route 8 northbound and slammed into the rear of the boom truck, which was not occupied. He was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. No one else was hurt. State Police said the boom truck was parked on the gore area of the Exit 44 offramp, where the operator was preparing to repair an overhead traffic light that was dangling over the roadway.
