Driver dies after car crashes into Cambridge apartment building
A Waltham man died after crashing a car through a fence and into an apartment building on Route 2 in Cambridge late Friday night, State Police said.
At about 11:10 p.m., the Cambridge Fire Department was working to free the vehicle’s driver and sole occupant, Theodore Ohene-Addo, 40, who was trapped with serious injuries in the badly damaged 2005 Nissan Altima, State Police said in a statement.
Ohene-Addo was transported to Mount Auburn Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
State Police said initial reports indicate the vehicle was driven off the road and through a fence before it crashed into a building. The building’s address, 223 Concord Turnpike, is a newly constructed apartment complex within walking distance of the Alewife T Station According to its website, Vox on Two – the complex’s name – opened to residents in October.
The crash is under investigation, State Police said in the statement, adding that the cause of the accident is not nown.
