Firefighters use aerial ladder to rescue man from Dorchester rooftop
Boston firefighters used an aerial ladder this morning to hoist a man from a Dorchester rooftop where he had been injured, fire officials said.
Technical rescue team firefighters rescued the man, whose name and age were not released, using Tower Ladder 10 from the roof of 28 Bishop Joe L. Smith Way, fire officials said.
“The easiest way to get him down was with the aerial ladder,’’ said Boston Fire Department spokesman Steve MacDonald.
The man became injured around 11:30 a.m. He was strapped into a Stokes basket, a type of stretcher, which was placed atop the ladder and lowered down, fire officials said.
The man was treated and transported to the hospital. He was conscious during the incident, MacDonald said.
No further information was immediately available.
