Prosecutors want to keep prison restrictions for alleged Marathon bomber
Special restrictions that prison officials have placed on accused Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev should be maintained to protect public safety, prosecutors said Monday. Federal prosecutors wrote in a legal filing that allowing Tsarnaev, who they said wants to incite others to commit acts of terrorism, to communicate more freely “could result in grave harm to the public.’’ His lawyers have asked a judge to ease the restrictions, which limit communications with the outside world to immediate family members and the defense team, among other provisions. Tsarnaev faces federal charges that could carry the death penalty for his alleged role in the bombings.
