Woman, 85, is injured by MBTA bus in South Boston

An 85-year-old woman was struck by a MBTA bus in South Boston Thursday evening, a T official said. A Route 9 bus taking a left turn from East Broadway onto L Street struck the woman around 6 p.m., said MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo. He said the woman was conscious and alert and asked to be taken to Tufts Medical Center. Her injuries were not considered life-threatening, Pesaturo said. The bus driver has been removed from service while the incident is being investigated, under MBTA policy, Pesaturo said.
