Justice says F. Lee Bailey should be granted law license
Celebrity lawyer F. Lee Bailey has been cleared to practice law in Maine. Supreme Court Justice Donald Alexander revisited an order from April to address Bailey’s tax debt with the government. On Friday, he said Bailey’s tax litigation should not stand in the way of his being admitted to the bar. His decision was delayed, however, in the event that the Board of Bar Examiners chooses to appeal. Bailey, 79, passed the Maine bar in November. Bailey, whose high-profile clients have included O.J. Simpson and Patty Hearst, was previously licensed in Massachusetts and Florida, but was disbarred in those states for mishandling $6 million worth of stock for a client.
