Former Newton teacher won’t face state child sexual assault charges
Middesex and Suffolk prosecutors have decided to terminate the state’s child sexual assault cases against former Newton teacher David Ettlinger, who was sentenced to a 45-year federal prison term for child pornography earlier this year. The decision was made after considering the length of Ettlinger’s federal prison sentence and the request of the alleged victims’ families that their children not be subjected to any additional news media attention and the possibility of testifying in court, Jake Wark, spokesman for the Suffolk district attorney’s office, said in an e-mail. Ettlinger faced state charges that he had allegedly sexually assaulted two children in Suffolk County and one in Middlesex County.
