BC marching band has date at inaugural
The Boston College “Screaming Eagles’’ Marching Band has been selected to perform at the 57th Inaugural Parade on Jan. 21 to mark the second inauguration of President Obama, the inaugural committee said Thursday. The selection is the biggest honor in the band’s history, “a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,’’ said band director David Healey. The band will perform the school’s signature fight song, “For Boston,’’ along the 15-block parade route in Washington, D.C., said BC spokesman Jack Dunn. The band has previously performed in the Emerald Isle Classic in Dublin, in 1988, and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York in 1995. It has also performed at many postseason bowl games over the past two decades.
