Aerosmith rocks new Patriots anthem

The New England Patriots have an anthem now, a song by Aerosmith which debuted last week during the matchup with the New York Jets at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. The band, whose members hail from south of Boston, has released “Legendary Child — Patriots Anthem,’’ which is available for free download at www.PepsiAnthems.com. The new song joins anthems by Kid Rock (Detroit Lions), Kelly Clarkson (Dallas Cowboys), Ice Cube (Oakland Raiders), Travie McCoy (New York Giants), Lenny Kravitz (New York Jets) as well as a Wiz Khalifa remix of “Black and Yellow’’ (Pittsburgh Steelers), all part of the Pepsi NFL Anthems program. “This is a program the band and I were excited to get behind as it is a true representation of our allegiance to the New England Patriots and the city of Boston,’’ Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler said in a news release. “Hearing our song being played as the soundtrack at all the tailgate parties to every touchdown is a testament to all the diehard Aerosmith fans in New England. . . . GO PATS!’’
