City seeking greater public input on Lincoln Park redesign

The city of Somerville said it would “reboot’’ a redesign of Lincoln Park  after its public input process failed to fully include the concerns of all citizens who commented on the park’s redesign. “It’s clear that some residents have not been aware of past opportunities to participate in public discussions, or would like more opportunity to comment on each step of the process,’’ said Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone
. “I think it’s also clear that there are strong differences of opinion about how best to proceed in fulfilling Lincoln Park’s potential as a community resource. Rebooting the process and adding additional outside expertise should address these concerns.’’ An outside consultant will be hired to gather more comprehensive public input and to help design the space, located near Union Square and the Albert F. Argenziano School. Future public meetings on the park have been canceled until after the city can select a design consultant, a process expected to take several weeks.
