Center for Arts at the Armory petitions for new hours, liquor license

The Center for the Arts at the Armory on Highland Avenue is petitioning the city’s zoning authorities to extend its operating hours, cook food at its cafe, add outdoor seating and indoor capacity, and apply for a full liquor license. “In order for our organization to be financially sustainable, we must be able to utilize our space to the full potential of our Café and Performance Hall,’’ according to the petition, which is circulating online. Armory staff are aiming for 1,000 digital signatures. If approved, the special permits would let the armory open at 7 a.m. and close at midnight on weeknights and 1 a.m. on weekends, and add liquor to its beer-and-wine license. The Zoning Board of Appeals is expected to delay its decision until September, according to city documents.
