Hutson to lead Protect Marriage Maine

The campaign manager for Republican state Treasurer Bruce Poliquin during his US Senate bid has been hired as campaign director by Protect Marriage Maine. Protect Marriage Maine announced the hiring of Matt Hutson, along with his wife Megan, who will serve as grass-roots coordinator. The Portland Press Herald said Hutson previously worked as state director for Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana and as central region director for the presidential campaign of Rick Santorum. Hutson said that he and his wife “strongly believe in the sanctity of marriage.’’ Mainers will vote in November on a referendum seeking to legalize same-sex marriage in Maine.
