WeWork set to open its third Boston location
The co-working space operator signed a lease for 31 St. James Ave. in the Back Bay.
WeWork, a rapidly expanding company that provides shared workspaces for freelancers, startups, small businesses, and entrepreneurs, is coming to the Back Bay.
The Boston Globe reports that WeWork has signed a lease for two floors of the Park Square Building at 31 St. James Ave., and plans to be up and running there by the end of 2016.
This will be WeWork’s third Boston location. The company already has offices in Fort Point Channel and the Leather District near South Station, which opened in 2014.

WeWork is a company that offers entrepreneurs and small businesses workspace in a collaborative community, connective technology and other services.
WeWork has offices in major U.S. cities like New York, San Francisco, Austin, Seattle, Chicago, and Washington D.C., as well as abroad in London and Tel Aviv.
Dave McLaughlin, who runs WeWork’s operations in Boston and other East Coast cities, told the Globe Back Bay was the next logical step for the company’s Boston expansion due to its density of businesses and good access to public transportation.

“Our model runs off of density and innovation,” he told the Globe. “That neighborhood makes sense.”
The new Back Bay offices will also be big enough that larger businesses looking for smaller outposts in the city could be attracted to the location, McLaughlin added.
WeWork probably won’t be stopping there, as McLaughlin told the Globe the company is already scouting more Boston locations.
