Here are some pros and cons of using multimedia resumes, according to career specialists:

Pros

At their best, multimedia resumes help job seekers by adding:

■ A “wow’’ factor — enabling them to stand out from the pack.

■ Increased depth — giving them a chance to display their personalities and skills in ways not possible to squeeze onto an 8½-by-11 sheet of paper.

■ Ease for the viewer — putting all supporting materials together in one place.

Cons

At their worst, however, multimedia resumes can backfire. A hiring manager is bound to grumble if confronted with any of the following:

■ A lack of professionalism.

■ Technological glitches.

■ Unwanted photos or videos.
