Mass. General Hospital ranked No. 4 in the country by U.S. News & World Report
Two Boston hospitals made the publication’s annual Honor Roll.
Massachusetts General Hospital has once again been singled out as one of the best medical institutions in the country.

MGH came in fourth in the 2018-2019 best hospital rankings from U.S. News and World Report, holding its spot from last year on the publication’s annual Honor Roll. Minnesota’s Mayor Clinic also kept its place at No. 1, followed yet again by the Cleveland Clinic and Johns Hopkins Hospital, respectively, in second and third.
But this year, another Boston-based institution made the top 20.
Brigham and Women’s ranked 20th on the Honor Roll, just a year after not making the cut for the first time in 24 years.
Hospitals across the country were ranked overall, as well as in 16 specialties. They were evaluated based on measures including survival and readmission rates, patient safety and quality of nursing, and patient experience, according to U.S. News.
Several Massachusetts hospitals landed on the top specialty lists, including McLean Hospital in Belmont, which retained the No. 1 spot for psychiatry for another year in a row.
