Bacteria blooms continue to close beaches across Mass.

The Massachusetts Bureau of Climate and Environmental Health continues to monitor the water safety at state beaches. As of Monday evening, 22 beaches are under advisory due to high levels of bacteria in the water.

The bureau states people should not swim or enter the water at any of the closed beaches to avoid illness.

An interactive map made by the state illustrates the beach closures across the state, as well as the ones currently deemed safe.

Of the 22 beaches currently closed, 16 are closed due to bacterial exceedance. Four closures are identified as harmful cyanobacteria blooms.

The closed beaches include Boston’s Savin Hill Beach, Quincy’s Wollaston Beach, and Nantucket’s Miacomet Pond.
