Mass. high schools are reopening full-time with a month left. Should they bother?

It’s one of those good news/bad news scenarios: Massachusetts high school students are finally heading back to school full-time on May 17, after over a year of remote and hybrid learning thanks to the coronavirus pandemic. But with only a month between that date and the last day of school on June 18 — earlier for most seniors — the students will barely have memorized their locker combinations before school’s out for the summer.
“By bringing high school students back now, we will be in a stronger position to start school in the fall,” said Education Secretary James Peyser, which is one way to look at it. But judging from the reaction on social media, not every parent agrees.
For the last 3 weeks of school????? This is pure idiocy!!
