Smith College students and faculty raise concerns to administration panel

Students and faculty at Smith College had a chance to voice concerns about safety and diversity at an open forum with administrators Monday, according to MassLive.

Those in attendance were given the opportunity to ask questions, and raise concerns to administrators relating to recent world events, including the Paris attacks and unrest at the University of Missouri at an open forum.

Some students expressed feeling unsafe on campus, saying they had experienced discrimination following terrorist attacks across the globe. They called for increased diversity in the community and education for students and faculty around social justice issues.

Administrators, including Smith president Kathleen McCartney, assured students they are working towards increased diversity and educating faculty to be more inclusive in the classroom, according to MassLive.
