Bowdoin College president to resign next year

Bowdoin College’s president, Barry Mills, said Monday that he will resign in June 2015 after 14 years of leading the private liberal arts college. Mills, 63, is the college’s 14th president. The 1972 Bowdoin graduate said he is not retiring and will seek another ‘‘professional challenge.’’ In a statement, he said, ‘‘I believe it is time for me to make way for new leadership to propel Bowdoin into its next period of greatness.’’ College officials said members of a search committee will be named in May.
