UNH honors politically active couple, firm

A New Hampshire couple active in state politics and a Portsmouth-based high-tech firm are being honored by the University of New Hampshire at this year’s commencement. The Granite State Award is given in recognition of outstanding contributions to the state. Honorees are UNH alumni Douglas and Stella Scamman of Stratham. He served 13 terms and she served three terms in the state House of Representatives. Scamman was budget director for Governor Steve Merrill and director of administration at the Department of Transportation. Stella Scamman was a member of the board of trustees for the University System of New Hampshire for 12 years. Bottomline Technologies will be recognized for its commitment to local communities. One program allows the firm’s employees to designate specific organizations to receive a donation from Bottomline in the employee’s name.
