R.I. student awaits word on cooking world record
A Rhode Island high school student who cooked for 40 hours in a row to feed the needy this week is awaiting word on whether he is a new world record holder. Ben Perry finished the marathon cooking session Wednesday afternoon at St. Basil’s Church Cultural Center in Lincoln. The 18-year-old senior at The Met School in Providence is trying to break the Guinness World Record of 36 hours and 58 minutes set in 2012 by Rob Smink in the Netherlands. It may take a few months for Guinness officials to decide whether Perry set a new record. They will be reviewing video and witness statements.
