Rhode Island officials plan school background check services
The office of Attorney General Peter Kilmartin plans to offer background check services at several police departments across Rhode Island for teachers and other school employees. Sessions are planned at the Smithfield and Cranston police departments next week. Additional sessions will be held in Bristol, Charlestown, Middletown, North Kingstown, and Pawtucket later in August and in September. State and national background checks are required for anyone seeking work at a public or private school in the state who has not been employed by that school during the previous 12 months.
