Police arrest 15-year-old in East Boston stabbing after he allegedly returns to the crime scene for his cellphone

A witness got out of his car and was able to disarm one of the suspects, according to police.

Two suspects wearing ski masks allegedly stabbed a male victim in East Boston on Tuesday night after he refused to hand over his personal belongings, including his scooter.

Responding officers then located two knives wrapped together in duct tape near the scene, along with a cellphone, and arrested a 15-year-old suspect who returned “stating he was looking for his cellphone,” according to police.

Officers responded to the area of 11 Paris St., which is near the Maverick T stop, at about 10 p.m. for a report of an assault in progress. After the victim was attacked, he tried to flee toward Sumner Street, he later told police.

“At this time, a witness who observed the altercation exited his vehicle in an effort to help the victim, eventually removing a knife from one of the suspects, which he then discarded,” police said. “A second witness stated he observed the two suspects making jabbing gestures towards the victim’s body. The suspects then fled the area.”

The victim was taken to a local hospital with injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening.

After apprehending the teen suspect, officers allegedly found a ski mask with his possessions. He is facing charges of aggravated assault and armed and masked robbery in juvenile court.
