Tensions can run high after a snowstorm in Boston, and early Wednesday morning, a dispute over a shoveled-out parking space in Dorchester escalated all the way to a stabbing, police say.

Officers responded to the incident near 59 Evans St. at about 1:25 a.m. There, they found three individuals standing on the sidewalk.

“A 41-year-old male and a 47-year-old female were both suffering from significant bleeding to their hands,” police said in a release. “Blood was also observed on the sidewalk, walkway, and nearby snowbanks.”

Officers rendered aid to the injured parties, who were ultimately taken to local hospitals by Boston EMS, and detained the third individual, 47-year-old Enel Javier of Dorchester.

“Investigators learned that the male victim arrived at the location and observed Javier’s vehicle parked in a space he believed he had personally cleared of snow,” police said. “A confrontation followed, which escalated when Javier became involved.”

Police said Javier stabbed the man in the hand with a knife, and the woman sustained an injury to her hand while attempting to intervene.

Javier was arrested and now faces a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury.
