As the Patriots-Chargers playoff game was getting underway on Sunday, Jan. 11, a seemingly “friendly argument” about the Patriots and Bills at a South Boston bar allegedly turned violent.

Boston police shared photos of the suspect Monday, who they said was involved in the “assault and battery with a dangerous weapon incident.” The suspect was described as a white male with dark hair who’s about 5-foot-9.

The alleged victim reported the incident to police the following day. He said he was at the Lincoln Tavern & Restaurant when the assault occurred at about 8:30 p.m.

According to the police report, he explained to the officer that what seemed “like a friendly argument about the Bills and Patriots turned into a physical altercation when he had uttered [redacted]’s better than [redacted] … (he) further started that the unknown suspect had hit him in his mouth with a bottle which resulted in him losing a front tooth.”
