A Quincy man is facing murder charges after his 26-year-old girlfriend was found dead in an apartment complex Saturday night, prosecutors said.
Guiovani Garcia Chagollan, 34, pleaded not guilty to murder and assault with a dangerous weapon in Quincy District Court Monday, Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey said.
Quincy police responded to an apartment at 500 Falls Boulevard around 11 p.m. Saturday, where officers found 26-year-old Ahtziri Y. Cardenas-Torreros and Garcia Chagollan with serious injuries. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, prosecutors said.
Garcia Chagollan suffered stab wounds and was transported to a hospital. His lawyer Elliot Levine told Boston.com that he is still hospitalized after “he made a serious attempt at his own life.”
Garcia Chagollan will be back in court in January for a probable cause hearing.
Prosecutors referred anyone facing domestic violence or abuse to contact police or community services. Morrissey shared the numbers for Dove Inc., a local non-profit group dedicated to assisting those experiencing domestic abuse at 617-471-1234, and SafeLink, a statewide 24-hour hotline at 1-877 785-2020.
