Fall River police have identified an alleged suspect in a homicide that happened Saturday outside a liquor store, according to prosecutors.
Kendrick Williams, 32, of Fall River, was arrested Wednesday in Jacksonville, Fla. and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, carrying a firearm subsequent offense, and carrying a loaded firearm, the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement.
Williams is a suspect in the death of Taiquan Teixeira, 31, of Fall River, who police found unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound after they were called to the area of Leonard’s Package Store at 1331 Pleasant St., according to the DA’s office. Officers responded at about 4:30 p.m. to a 911 call reporting “men fighting” outside the store.
First responders took Teixeira to a local hospital, and he was pronounced dead a few hours later, prosecutors said. Fall River police and Massachusetts State Police then began investigating the circumstances of Teixeira’s death.
Williams also has probation warrants out of Bristol Superior Court for armed home invasion and two counts of masked armed robbery with a firearm, according to the DA’s office. The cases originated out of Plymouth County and were transferred to Bristol County.
Since Williams is still out-of-state, no arraignment date has been set yet. He will be held without bail in Florida until he can be brought back to Massachusetts, prosecutors said.
