A Concord man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly violating a Harassment Protection Order from the superintendent of the Concord and Concord-Carlisle Regional school districts.
Beginning on Sept. 22, Concord police received reports of signs directed toward the superintendent placed around town.
John Grace, 56, was found to be a suspect following an investigation by Concord police, in partnership with Massachusetts State Police and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, according to Concord police.
In May, Superintendent Laurie Hunter had been granted a Harassment Protection Order against Grace.
Grace was arrested around 9:53 a.m. Tuesday and charged with violating the order, police say. He was arraigned in Concord District Court later that day, according to court documents.
“We are grateful to the Concord Police Department and their public safety partners for their thorough investigation into threats made toward Superintendent Laurie Hunter,” the school district wrote in a statement. “The Concord and Concord-Carlisle School Committees continue to stand firmly with Superintendent Hunter. We acknowledge her steady leadership during this challenging period.”
In 2022, Grace was charged with threatening to commit a crime and threats to use a weapon at a target after allegedly making threats toward Hunter. Grace was ultimately found not guilty of threatening to commit a crime, and the other charge was dropped, according to court documents.
