Boston police said more than two kilograms of fentanyl was recovered last week stemming from an extensive investigation into suspected drug activity in the Southwest Corridor area after “numerous” community complaints.
As a result of the months-long investigation, which reportedly uncovered a fentanyl distribution network, police executed several search warrants last week, including at 176 Stratton St. in Dorchester, 127 Hazelton St. in Mattapan, and 1059 Tremont St. in Roxbury.
Officers arrested five people allegedly involved in the distribution network. During the searches, in addition to the fentanyl, they also reportedly seized 32 rounds of ammunition, scales, drug packaging materials, and over $3,000.
Ricky Wilson Soto-Arias, 36, of Dorchester, was charged with Class A trafficking and unlawful possession of ammunition, police say.
Doris Baez, 37, of Mattapan, pleaded not guilty to Class A trafficking and unlawful possession of ammunition, and was set to reappear in court for a detention hearing on Monday, according to court documents.
Bryan Mejia, 31, of Mattapan, pleaded not guilty to Class A trafficking. Mejia was released on personal recognizance and is set to reappear in Roxbury Municipal Court for a status review hearing on Dec. 1, according to court documents.
Jeiel Hernandez, 44, of Boston, pleaded not guilty to Class A trafficking and Class A drug possession, according to court documents. Hernandez is also set to reappear in Roxbury Municipal Court for a status review hearing on Dec. 1.
Stephen Smith, 37, of Boston, was charged with nighttime breaking and entering and larceny over $250, according to police.
