Lowell police are seeking the public’s help with information surrounding a fatal hit and run that occurred Oct. 30.
Just before midnight, officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a car in the 700 block of Chelmsford Street, police said in a statement. At the scene, they found a woman who had been hit, but the vehicle that struck her had fled the scene.
The woman, whose identity has not been publicly released, received emergency medical treatment at the scene and was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later, according to police. As of Thursday night, police have found the vehicle of interest but are still seeking information about the incident.
The department’s accident reconstruction unit and criminal investigations bureau, as well as the Middlesex District Attorney’s office, are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information about the hit-and-run is urged to contact Lowell police at 978-937-3200.
