A Millis Police officer was placed on unpaid leave as he awaits trial on charges of domestic assault and strangulation of a family member.
On Wednesday, Craig Thompson pleaded not guilty to charges of strangulation and assault and battery at his arraignment in Wrentham District Court. The court released him on personal recognizance as he awaits his pretrial hearing on Oct. 14.
The Millis Police Department said that Officer Thompson was arrested Tuesday by Medway Police and charged with domestic assault and battery and strangulation of a family member.
Officer Thompson has served with the Millis Police Department for 10 years and works in the patrol division.
The Millis Police Department placed Thompson on unpaid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
Due to privacy laws, the department said it would not provide any further comments.
